Teething on Tuesdays
- In recent egg news, it seems that one chicken has laid an egg in the shape of a bowling pin whilst another is clucking out shell-less eggs.
- I'm not a huge fan of Sprinkles, but a green velvet cupcake is a good a reason as any other to celebrate St. Paddy's Day with sugary, butyracious carbs. Or, if you're feeling particularly domestic, you can ring in the green with some of your own Irish Car Bomb cupcakes.
- Ben and Jerry's tries to boost sales by bashing Haagen Dazs. No, I'm not judging. In fact, I'm going to stock up on some more One Sweet Whirled.
- Hydroponic gardening - the no muss, no fuss way of growing your own veggie garden in the city.
- OMG. WTF, TGIF?
- 11 year old kid sells of his Happy Meal toy collection for $10,000. Well, SOMEBODY'S doing quite well for himself in light of this recession.

Nicolette Niman’s “The Righteous Porkchop,” a book that has been years in the making, has come at a time of increased public desire to become further acquainted with their food. Aided by the celebrity chef phenomenon and recent investigations into the corruptions of prominent food distributors, the issues raised in the book are especially relevant to a modern audience. The political intricacies of Big Food and Big Agriculture are addressed with passion and clarity, and Niman’s years of experience as an environmental lawyer and investigative journalist are put to good use. The book reads almost as a statement for the defense of traditional farming. Niman presents her arguments against the well-financed and unrelenting campaigns of the Big Food industries (Got Milk?) both reasonably and effectively, striving to awake the dormant collective conscience that has learned to mistake “wants” for “needs” when it comes to the meat industry.

As much as I love Purim, I can't stand the one thing that is supposed to be the sweetest part of the holiday: hamentashen. The dessert is filled with prunes, apricots, apples, or my
least favorite, poppy seeds, and they all equally rub me the wrong way. Maybe it’s the taste of dried fruit, or the
fact that I have a lot of trouble finding ones with just chocolate on the inside. Either way these old school hamentashen
fillings should be a thing of the past. Below
are some sweet and savory hamentashen fillings that will satisfy even the most
traditional palate.

Mulling Over Monday
- Bentomaker or not, these are pretty damn cool. Egg shapers - it's THE way to fashion the yolks of your hardboiled egges into diamonds, stars, flowers and hearts.
- Ever found yourself sitting in a diner, bored and craving some ice cream when there's little to no service around? Solution: creamer cups. You'll be glad you did.

One Forked-Up Friday
- Sexy water? Check. Donut-scented shower gel? Check. One girl's Flickr tour through Japan? Check, check, check.
- As it turns out, polar bears fancy fancy blocks of ice filled with fresh melons at your local zoo. I know. I know what you're thinking. DUDE, THERE ARE NO MELONS IN ANTARCTICA. This food is not in step with the indigeneous polar bear diet. Seriously. This pro-vegan agenda has gone too far. Watch it, zoo keepers...
