Eats.com Calendar: July 22 - July 25

winefood.jpgIn this edition of the Eats.com calendar, we've got enough happenings to pack your entire schedule.  Starting on Thursday with Beer, Dumplings, and Discourse, and ending on Sunday with the Belgium National Day Celebration and the final day of NYC Restaurant Week (we're sad, too), it's going to be a busy (and wine-filled) weekend!  Where are you headed?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JULY 22 - Beer, Dumplings, and Discourse: Learn the secrets of Chinese dumplings and pair them with NY's finest local brews; presented by Edible Manhattan.  7-9pm, $40, Whole Foods Bowery Culinary Center.

 

JULY 22-29 - Special Herb Menu at New Leaf: New Leaf Restaurant & Bar will be spotlighting its on-site herb garden, with chef Scott Campbell offering a special à la carte menu ($8–$28). 1 Margaret Corbin Dr at Fort Tryon Park (212-568-5323).


JULY 23 - Street Food and the Cellar: An Evening of Tacos and Wine with The Taco Truck: Tacos and fine wine finally get together, as Chef Roberto Santibañez presents techniques for making authentic Mexican food--which will then be paired with a host of wines. 6:30-8:30pm, $55, Astor Center.

 

JULY 23 - Pirate Barbecue: Come to the Society of Illustrator's Annual End of the Year Barbecue where you can eat, drink, and (most importantly) party like a pirate!  $35 non-members, 7-11pm, 128 E 63rd St btw Lexington and Park.

 

JULY 24 - Wine Regions of the World Tasting Series Cruise: Relax on a yacht while sampling fine wines from around the world (Roses this week), eating artisinal cheeses, and learning the basics about how to taste-test wine like a pro. 2:15pm, Chelsea Piers Classic Harbor Line.

 
JULY 24 - Martha Stewart & Unlimited Champagne: Head out to Wölffer Estate Vineyard, where Martha Stewart will be honored at the James Beard Foundation's summer fundraisr.  Food samples from over 30 top chefs will be served if you're feeling a bit peckish.  5:30–8pm, $250, Wölffer Estate Vineyard, 139 Sagg Rd, Sagaponack, NY (212-627-2308).


JULY 25 - National Belgian Day: Belgian food, a Miss Belgium pageant, live music, and all the proceeds are benefitting Haiti. Bring on the waffles!  2pm, $15, The Frying Pan.

 

JULY 25 - Final Day of NYC Restaurant Week: It came, it conquered, and now it's over (for time being, anyway).  NYC's Summer Restaurant Week let us dine on three courses of haute cuisine at bargain prices ($25 lunch/$35 dinner). Haven't taken advantage of Restaurant Week yet?  There's still time--make a reservation today! It has just been announced that Restaurant Week will continue until September.  Hooray!
