| Foodie Reads: Carl Warner's Food Landscapes |
|
We recently received a copy of Carl Warner's new book Food Landscapes at the office, and it was too good not to share. The images of food-filled scenes had us ooh-ing, ahh-ing and made us hungry for lunch.
In Food Landscapes, Warner's creates unbelievably detailed and realistic scenes completely out of food. In his Tuscan Landscape (pictured on cover), for example, one quick glance may have you thinking it's just a pretty shot of the Italian countryside. Take a closer look and you'll see that everything from the clouds (mozzarella) to the hilltop village (parmesan buildings with red pasta roofs) to the rock wall (pine nuts) is made of food.
The best part of the book is that with each landscape, from the London Skyline to the Celery Rainforest, you also get a behind the scenes look at how it was all created. You can see a list of all the ingredients used, read the story of the inspiration and construction of the scene, and check out the original sketches of the landscapes.
Food Landscapes is available to purchase at Amazon and you can take a look at more of Warner's work on his website.
