What We're Eating This Week
(4 votes)

Surprisingly enough, the EATS staff takes their dining very seriously. Here are some of our meal highlights from the past week that we are still salivating over.

 EATS favorite, La Esquinapicture_122.png

•    “I just had the chorizo and the pork taco from La Esquina!” And it appears he liked it. Proper name: Cochinita Pibil & Papa, nopales y chorizo.

•    Khao Soi from Chili Thai in Hell’s Kitchen- At this “little hole in the wall place,” one EATer raved about Khao Soi, a Northern-Thai soup dish with egg noodles, chicken and veggies in a curry-like sauce–“just spicy enough…delicious.”  Khai Soi is common in its homeland, but “very difficult to find in Thai restaurants in NY.”

•    “The Aui Zhou chicken at Grand Sichuan on 24th and 9th Ave. was quite possibly the best Chinese dish I've ever had: nose-run spicy, but delish.” Check out this EATer’s full fabulous review on eats.com.

•    An all around rave for Diablo Royale on West 10th Street: “Diablo Royale is the best. Rickys are the best drinks out there and the chicken enchiladas are probably the best in the city.”

•    The mahi mahi sandwich from Miami’s Scotty’s Landing.  “Ask for it extra blackened and this sandwich will not disappoint. Make sure to have a tall glass of Arnold Palmer by your side to handle the “kick.”

•    The zucchini chips appetizer at Trata in Water Mill, N.Y. “was unbelievable

•    A treat from Long Island favorite Ralph’s Ices, “I went with the usual watermelon. It was the perfect snack.”

•    Eggs Benedict from The Café at Books & Books (Miami Beach)- This delicious breakfast dish substitutes boring hollandaise with an “orgasmic” avocado sauce. Swap the muffin for multigrain toast and you’re talking about “a real South Beach classic in the making.”

•    Though one EATer was far from overwhelmed by the service at Arturo’s he begrudgingly admitted that the meat ravioli with vodka sauce was “great.”

•    A toffee chip razzle from Katie’s Country Store in East Otis, Massachusetts. “Okay, it’s a fake blizzard, but DQ doesn’t have this flavor. If you happen to be in the Berkshire boondocks, order it made with vanilla/chocolate swirl, and hot fudge mixed in. Enjoy it with the sun on your shoulders.”

•    The Fajita Special from Mama Mexico- “More food than most could handle” and “melts in your mouth” were thrown out to describe this hedonistic affair. Accompanied by “perfectly blended” “zesty” guacamole and a blueberry mojito, it was, in this employee’s words: “BAM!”
