From Hill Country:

"Named "Best Barbecue in NY" by both New York Magazine and Time Out New York, "Top 10 Barbecue in the U.S." by the Wall Street Journal and "Best New Restaurants of the Year" by New York Magazine, Hill Country takes its "cue" from legendary Texas barbecue joint Kreuz Market and its distinctive dry-rub style. Hill Country's brisket, sausage, ribs and other meats are smoked low and slow over Texas post oak. The barbecue is served in butcher paper, counter-style by the pound, with traditional trimmings. Hill Country features two full bars with an extensive menu of long neck beers, tequila and bourbon, and a state-of-the-art sound system and stage for live music celebrating the thriving Austin music scene. Signature versions of classic southern sides and sweets include Longhorn Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Campfire Baked Beans with Burnt Ends, and the Original PB&J Cupcake. A marketplace full of Lone Star State favorites includes: Big Red Soda, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Kreuz Market Sausages."

A really fun place for groups to go to have drinks and amazing BBQ. It's a take off on the classic Texas BBQ joints--you go to different stations for hand-carved meats, sides and desserts. They even wrap your meat in butcher paper. To me, the moist brisket is right up there with Katz's pastrami and Shake Shack burgers as the best cow products in NYC. And the desserts are unreal!

What I Ate: moist brisket, deviled eggs, sweet potatoe bourban mash, pb&j cupcake, chocolate/marshmellow brownie

When you walk in it smells like a (clean) barn! I loved, loved it! I only came for beers after dinner elsewhere but they had live music downstairs which was a little bit country and a lot bit fabulous!
All the food that was walking past me looked so yum - stick to your ribs style. I am definitely going back for dinner! They have family style eating tables and it is all very casual. A fun and different spot for a group of friends - maybe leave home the high maintenance ones.

I love the atmosphere here--it's jovial and laid back. The food is awesome but filling, especially the really moist brisket. It practically melts in your mouth. Also, I've been pretty impressed with the chicken--it's never dry. Go with a group so you can get a lot of sides to share.

I had heard great things about this place! Unfortunately it did not live up to the expectations. The ribs and brisket were dry and lacked that 1 thing to put them at level i would consider decent. Everything was average! Plus they only gave us 1 BBQ and there were 4 people sharing :( !
