Classy Thai

It's one of the trendier restaurants in Chinatown, and it's got the culinary substance to back up its exotic decor. Pongsri was renovated relatively recently, and the elegant space is a perfect venue for any kind of group meal or for a date. There's a lovely bar with a big flat-screen TV and a few semi-private seating areas. The food, while pricier than the average Chinatown entree, is up to par with Chinatown flavors. No restaurant could really survive here if it didn't cater to Asian stomachs.
I got the egg noodles with bamboo shoots, chicken, mushroom, and scallions, and I loved the dry noodles (not too soggy, but not devoid of moisture either). My tongue was not burned (hooray), though this place, I hear, can get very spicy if you want it to. Service was wonderful. The attentive waitresses constantly refilled our water and were very good-humored. I would be open to trying Pongsri's other locations throughout the city.
