The ambience here is great. You would never guess the beauty that awaits inside after seeing its rather drab exterior. The food was certainly different from the mexican I usually eat, and for that I applaud this little restaurant. We started with tortilla chips and guacamole, and the guacamole was very tasty. I don't know how I feel about fish filled enchiladas but the taste I had of the tuna was absolutely delicioso! For dessert, we indulged in the warm chocolate cake which was supreme. It was warm and gooey and oh so chocolatey.

I was really impressed with the quality of food at Hell's Kitchen and it is definitely one of the better Mexican meals I've had in New York (and I love Mexican). We started with the plantain gorditas, which were two thick flat balls of plantains with goat cheese, definitely a winning combination. My red snapper enchilada was excellent--the fish was fresh and served in a tortilla with squash, carrots and other veggies. The poblano-spinach puree served with it definitely amplified the dish and gave it a great depth of flavor. My boyfriend's tuna steak was also great and served appropriately rare with a nice yucca cake and sauteed spinach. The smoky peanut sauce was a creative choice and one that worked rather well. For dessert, the banana empanada was fun and tasty--who doesn't like a good fried banana with whipped cream? The crowd was relatively young and the restaurant itself had a nice vibe. I look forward to returning and recommend it to anyone who likes a nice twist on Mexican food.

This is an incredible little restaurant tucked away in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. It has a very chic but intimate interior which gives a very hip ambience, and the food is absolutely wonderful. Considering the price of an entree here, this is arguably the best bang-for-buck place I've been in the city. The pork was so soft and tender, and my friends' tuna and shrimp dishes were equally great. Their drinks are also quite good, particularly the sangria. This is a fantastic hidden gem.
