Perfect Go-To for Reasonable Eats and TASTY Food

I really liked Cafe Orlin...I liked it before I even ate there because of the always packed outdoor seating area. At first, I just wanted to go, grab a drink in the sun with good friends and not be too upset if the food wasn't exceptional. I was in for a surprise. Some may disagree, but I REALLY liked the hummus. The texture was almost doughy, with a lovely dipping pool of oil and diced tomatoes/onions in the center. Sort of a do-it-yourself hummus that I immensely enjoyed. The grilled calamari was great, if a bit overdressed, though the flavor shone through despite the heavy handed kitchen staff. Add a nice glass of wine to the mix and you've got one great lunch in front of you, for $20. I will certainly be back, to people watch from the sidewalk, enjoy a glass of wine and revisit the hummus plate. Thanks Orlin

Favorite casual neighborhood place for 20 years

Orlin has been my favorite place since I moved to the East Village in 1987. I don't know how they never waver from the quality or value, but they are consistently the best place in the 'hood for any meal. The breakfast deal is unbeatable - $5.95 gets you eggs any style, potatoes, toast, cappucino, and FRESH orange juice. All of the sandwiches are fresh and tasty, and I've recently just ordered the burger which beats anybody in the area. I now just go here for burgers when the mood hits. All of the salads are great but you must order the Indonesian Chicken with peanut sauce or the Penne with Chicken. I wish I owned this place and feel like I must have bought it at least once with all the money I've spent, but it's been well worth it.

Classic American fare

For a no-fuss, filling hamburger, check out Cafe Orlin. Together with a big thing of fries and a little cole slaw, it's a meal that'll leave you full and satisfied. Portions are good. And outdoor seating, while a bit crowded during peak hours, makes for good people-watching while you eat.
