I came here for: Casual meal
I'm not a chocolate fanatic. I would rather have fruit or vanilla over choco, but I fell in love with this place. With a cozy interior ideal for a BIG dessert after dinner, this place offers all types of chocolates. I chose to have the spicy Mexican hot chocolate (amazing) with the chocolate cake filled with a warm (you guessed it!) chocolate sauce. The plate came with a little side of berries (blue, straw and raspberries)a mini-flask of raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream. Although the cake was a little dry, with the help of all the accompaniments, the bites flowed down my throat in merriment. Pure bliss.

I came here for: Date
The East Village Max Brenner is a slightly quieter more intimate version of its bigger brother by Union Square. The interior is less cavernous which gives a warmer more personal dining experience and makes it great for a casual date. When the weather is warm, outdoor seating is quite pleasant. In terms of food, Max Brenner is a master of chocolate dishes and drinks. Chocolate martinis, cakes, fondues, hot chocolate, and about a million other things (including the occasional gift chocolate shot from the house) are absolutely delicious. The restaurant also holds its own with a variety of sandwiches, salads, and specialty dishes (I like the savory waffles best). Overall, a strong recommendation.
