Solid Neighborhood Italian Fare
Reviewed on Thursday, 05 June 2008 — Last updated: Tuesday, 01 July 2008
A hidden gem on the Upper Upper West Side, Max Soha is usually packed- and rightfully so. The entrees are very reasonably priced and there's always a bevy of daily specials. Max Soha offers Italian food with the comforts of home but the flair of a gourmet. To this day, I still talk about the absolutely delicious carrot gnocchi (a special of the day) which I can only describe as orange pillows of bliss drizzled with cream and fried sage leaves.
The restaurant is usually bustling in the best way possible, it feels like a friendly neighborhood gathering where everyone always seems to be enjoying themselves. The freshly-made pasta is never overcooked or overly drenched with sauce. Although sometimes I can't muster up the energy to walk 10 blocks over, I'm always glad I went to Max Soha.
