American NewWylie Dufresne's wd-50 is not for the faint at heart—expect unusual flavor combinations and unfamiliar textures. Dufresne's signature fried hollandaise will delight experienced and beginning gourmands alike (though the price may intimidate some). Wd-50 is not just a meal, it is an landmark dining experience and a testament that food can be both chic and playful.

I took my baby cousin here to celebrate her 21st birthday because she was oh so intrigued by the thought of eating a fried mayonnaise cube (a WD-50 specialty). The restaurant is beautiful, very pretentious Manhattan, nauseatingly chic... the food on the other hand was not so sexy. I left the fried mayo eating to the brave Parson's student of the family and ordered soup, fried quail, and scallops which all sounded very yummy and interestingly prepared. oh no... the portions were thimble sized and the flavor combinations were better on paper to say the least. The quail was slimy, and the three scallops were rubbery and dry! To top it off, for three appetizers, two entrees, and a bottle of wine, we paid over $300! So lame for food that tries to be so much but is below mediocre. What's lamer is the fact that we grabbed pizza an hour and a half later. Definitely not worth your hard earned cash!

Every plate that arrived at the table was beautiful. Each bite I took made me smile either from surprising me with a new texture or overwhelming me with flavor.
