City 'Cue

You know you're in for some serious foodage when you're given tin buckets for bones and what is almost a towel for a napkin. We kept it "light" though -- some Blue Smoke burgers and chicken wings appetizer, which still ended up being a more than filling dinner. All-beef patties were more than an inch thick and came with heaps of fries. The chicken wings were finger-lickin' good. Atmosphere was bustling; definitely a happening place. Next time, I wouldn't mind getting messier: scarfing down some ribs to the live jazz music downstairs.

Closest to K.C. BBQ
Reviewed on Tuesday, 30 December 2008
Yes, I ate BBQ on a first date...I'm bold.
Closest to real(kc) bbq in N.Y. My waiter was actually some one I went to High School with in K.C.! No joke!
And he told me there were other Kansas Citians working there and the owners had bottles of K.C. sauce in the office as homework...I'm not makin this up...
Anyway, great eats, nice bar if it weren't always packed to the walls.

The Only True Smoke
Reviewed on Thursday, 01 May 2008
A wonderful combination of New York City and barbecue. They pack a true smoker and talented chefs in the kitchen. We've eaten there a number of times in varying capacities and it's consistently delicious.
The staff doesn't dote over you but your glasses are filled on time and the food comes just as you need it.
There is a sense of novelty to the place but it's not annoying or touristy.
If your're in the area it's worth spending some decent money on lots of barbecue and a little too much beer.

Best Mac N Cheese
Reviewed on Thursday, 15 November 2007
I first ate at Blue Smoke when my boyfriend had his wisdom teeth out. He needed soft food and only wanted Mac N Cheese so I researched best in the city and Blue Smoke came up..so we went. It really is the best Mac N Cheese ever. I'm pretty sure that there is both cheddar and American cheese in the mix. Anyway, their BabyBacks are pretty spectacular as well and fall right off the bone. We've been going back time and time again, at one point once in the week in the dead of the winter, and we always order the same thing. They have great burgers too and I order the sweet potato fries on top because they are so mushy and yummy. It's a little slow because it's so popular but it's awesome. When my friend from out of town came in and wanted to feast, that's where I took him. Oh, and Chris Collinsworth was there too.
