Dessert/BakeryOnly in New York could a store that serves only rice pudding be so successful. The pudding comes in four different sizes: solo (serves 1, $5), epic (serves 2, $7.50), sumo (serves 5, $20) and moby (serves 10, $35). Flavors vary daily including many seasonal specials (i.e. perfectly legal pecan pie during the fall).

500 just ain't enough!

Rice to Riches has a certain quirky, in-your-face attitude that you don't often encounter in other cafes/snack shops. Right when you walk in, there's a sign that says, "Limit: 500 rice puddings per customer," and actually, that's not as big of an exaggeration as it seems. The rice puddings are THAT good. My friend and I split an 8-oz. "secret life of pumpkin" ($6) and it was just heavenly: not too sweet, goopy in all the right places, perfectly cinnamony, and didn't really leave me dry-mouthed as lots of puddings do. The whole design of the place - from its orange neon/white color theme to its futuristic oval-shaped furniture to its little resealable plastic bowls - is just so damn cute. There's not a lot of seating (only about three tables for two, with a couple more standing-room only ones near the front), but you may be too busy gobbling up your rice pudding to care.
