ItalianIl Vagabondo has been around for decades and provides one of the most interactive Italian experiences one will find on the Upper East Side. If you have the cash and the appropriate number of guests, the Bocce room is yours for the evening! Il Vagabondo caters to large parties and promises that you won't be kicked to the curb immediately after dessert--"stay as long as you like" is a refreshing motto heard seldom in a fast paced city such as ours. The menu is not extensive, though each dish offers something different. Reservations are only taken for parties of 10 or more so, if you must wait, have a round or two of Bocce with your date if the lanes are free!

Old School Italian
Reviewed on Tuesday, 13 May 2008
Came here with my buddy Gavin and his family. This is one special place that no one can recreate in the city. This place has been around forever, and has housed some of the biggest names in American History. The best is to walk around the place, look at all the history, enjoy the home cooked italian food, and play some bocce ball on the clay court.

Great place

My family has been going here for 30+ years. This is my favorite spot in the city. The food is good old fashioned home-cooked Italian. Portions are huge, prices are more than reasonable. Oh yeah, they also have a 100 year old clay bocce ball court in one part of the restaurant. Bottom line: if you want to get away from the glitz and glam of NYC for a great Italian meal, this is your place.
