Jojo's is a Jean Georges Vongerichten French restaurant with emphasis on simple menu options and a consciously crafted wine list.  The pastry chef hails from Chez Panisse, the famous Californian eatery credited for the rise of the Slow Food movement.  The menu is contemporary French cuisine and parties of 8 or more (up to 40) are given the option of a prix fixe menu. Jojo's strives to create a serene atmosphere for its guests. Not a wine conoisseur?  No problem.  Jojo's recommends wines for each menu offering.  Dinner can be pricey.  If you don't want to spend too much, try the prix fixe lunch.

My dad and I came here during Restaurant Week and were both blown away by the quality that JoJo offers. This is fine dining at its best - when every bite, no matter how small, manages to pack in enough flavor and balance enough of the right ingredients to make you appreciate that what you're eating is truly a work of art.

My crabcake was delectably crispy on the outside, stuffed with soft crabmeat on the inside, and complemented perfectly with a sweet mango sauce. The salmon entree was probably the freshest and most tender salmon I've ever tasted, and while not too salty, it mixed well with the mashed potatoes and crunchy peas. The raspberry crisp for dessert was the weakest part of the meal, but it was presented beautifully and left me feeling incredibly full.

The cod fish my dad had was also extremely tender and deliciously sprinkled with little pickle-like veggies, and together with a zesty goat cheese salad and heavenly warm chocolate cake, he finished the meal singing its praises. Both of us agreed that for seemingly modest portions, JoJo somehow left us both satisfyingly stuffed.

The restaurant looks very unassuming from the outside, but inside it's a charming, intimate little French bistro decked out with just enough elegance to avoid looking overly stuffy. And though we did see some classic UpperEastSide-ocrats there, the place was mostly comprised of other casual, Restaurant Week-eaters. Service was also great - none of the attitude you can sometimes encounter in a high-end eatery.

Overall, dining at JoJo's is a real treat. It's food prepared with the utmost care, and you can taste the effort that goes into each dish.
