The start of a great evening
Reviewed on Tuesday, 21 July 2009
My wife and I are fussy eaters who usually prefer French cooking. We live on the upper east side. We went to the village to hear Chuck Mangione at the Blue Note. We went to the Berimbau because we thought it was a different restaurant but all five of us who ate there were very impressed. I had their duck dish and really liked the rich deep sauce that it was served with. The passion fruit mousse was also a hit. My friend who ordered the sea scallops was a little surprised at how perfectly they were cooked. Another friend said that the chocolate mouse was the best she ever has eaten as she woofed it down. The filet mignon was tender as butter.
I asked for where to post this review because I liked it so much and so did the rest of the party. The service was personal and attentive. We were in excellent spirits for the great music. The only downside is that they are in the Village and not in our own neighborhood.

The place is amazing!!! From atmosphere to service everything was great!!! The food was great as well. I had the calabreza to start. It comes with some Yuca fries and a little spiced cilantro mayo sauce... For my entree i had the Moqueca. Sea food stew that came with shrimps, scallops, fish, calamari and mussels.... on a rich brazilian souce that i think is with tomato base and coconut milk and "dende" oil!!!!! Amazing rich seafood with rice on side!!!
Desert i had the passion fruit mousse that was very refreshing and delicious!!!

New Brazilian restaurant!!!!!
Reviewed on Monday, 04 May 2009
To start we were greeted by a beautiful, well decorated space with great atmosphere!!! A server approached with a smile and showed as around the restaurant. You have to check out the back dining room and the charming outdoor patio...We sat at a nice table by the front window. The music was a nice mix of Brazilian Bossa in the early part of the night and then later it pumped up a bit, to create a great energy like only Brazilians can do!Lol!
We started with some classic Caipirinhas and then they sent us a Passion fruit Caipirinha shot that was divine. (thanks chef Sergio!)
My waiter, also called Sergio from Brazil (Yeap!!! they have 3 Sergios there!) guided us through the menu and said I had to try the Acaraje to start and the sea scallops as entree. My friend was in a mood for a salad that was called Salpicao and then the Duck.
I cant describe how wonderful everything was! I tried a bit of everything...
The Acaraje is an amazing black eyed pea, fried cake served with vatapa broth and a nice, crispy shrimp.
The Salpicao is a great, simple salad- greens, topped with ham, chicken, raisins, carrots...very light and delicious!
Sea scallops were perfectly cooked, topped with a yummy sauce and potato vilarejo.
The duck was the best I've had!
To finish we had the Passion Fruit Mousse...sweet and refreshing.
We will come back for sure!
