Wit out it
Reviewed on Monday, 24 August 2009
I must start off by saying I am not a cheesesteak kind of a guy and this was my 1st time at jims. Ordered it with whiz wit(onions) and mushrooms but they forgot the wit part so it ended up being with just mushrooms. For all the hype around the cheesesteak, the atmosphere I enjoyed more then the actual food. It was old school with a show behind behind the grill, a language of its own and a guy telling jokes behind the cash register. It was an experience but i think next time i go for a cheesesteak in philly ill go out of my way to try Pats, Geno's or tony lukes.

Tasty

The quality of the steak was much higher than any other cheesesteak I've had. The bread was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside which I found to be perfect. I was very happy that I added the peppers to the traditional sandwich. They added a nice sweet flavor to an otherwise meaty tasting sandwich. Best cheesesteak I've had, but I'd take a pulled pork sandwich any day. Waited a little more than an hour on a Saturday afternoon.

great steaks and cool atmosphere

I came to philly on a family vacation..which was a horrible experience but Jim's was by far the highlight of our trip. Its located on South Street, which by default, makes it a cool place. Add to that unbelievably good cheesesteaks plus the hip art-deco style interior and you have a philadelphia landmark. The walls are covered with celebrity photographs and autographs which are fun to look at while you're waiting on line (and believe me you'll be waiting). But don't worry, the line moves relatively fast and soon enough you'll be able to chow down on your juicy steak sandwhich topped with onions and cheese whiz.
