I came here for: Party
The food was nothing special to write home about however the service was beyond terrible. In fact we were insulted by the level of customer service this restaurant´s owner gave us. It was so horrible that I was compelled to write this review as soon as I came home.

The 4 drinks that they brought us had "FLIES" in them. It was not till the 5th drink order that they served us in a clean glass with no "FLIES". After this experience we had a choice to either stay or leave. Given the wonderful reviews Asia Nine has gotten, we decided to give them a chance.

We ordered our food; there were 7 of us in total. The 7th person did not get their food order. We asked the waiter to look into the order and he said he´ll go check and be right back. After waiting for a long time (couldn´t find our waiter) and the 6 people finishing their meals, we asked the waiter again. He once again went to the kitchen and brought the meal out after 10 minutes.

During this time we did not get a single apology for the mix-up as well as the "FLIES" in 4 of our drinks. All we got was a big fat check thrown at us.

I asked the waiter to talk to the manager. I explained what we experienced, again no apology from the manager. So I asked that they do something about the terrible service and the problem with "FLIES" in our drinks. The manager stated that there is nothing she can do. After further argument, she said go sit at our table and wait for her. After about 7 minutes of waiting, she came back with a new check where she knocked off 14%, again no apology.

So I asked the manager to speak to the OWNER. The owner came to our table with a horrible attitude problem. I explained once again the problems we faced. She told me there is nothing she can do about that and that the problem with the FLIES just occurred today due to some issue in the kitchen/bar area. Again no apology for anything we faced in Asia Nine. In fact she talked down to all 7 people at our table with a condescending attitude. I informed her that each one of us will be writing a review of our experience at Asia Nine as well as filing a complaint with the Health Department and the Better Business Bureau. She told us to go ahead because she´s been in the restaurant business for 10 years and this is how she handles customer issues.

Rightfully so we paid our bill and left dissatisfied. As we left the restaurant, I said to her that all she had to do was apologize for the experience we faced. Instead she said "...in that case I´m sorry and thank you for your comments...".

In summary, Asia Nine has mediocre food with FLIES in the restaurant with a kitchen staff that can´t handle food orders even when the restaurant is not busy. As well as horrible management staff with a rude owner who has NO clue about customer service.

I came here for: Date
When I heard about the opening of Asia Nine I was very excited to have some of my favorite flavors of Asian cuisine overtake the mundane tastes of Chinese, Japanes, and Thai foods that are most prevalent in DC. Instead, I was slightly disappoint and the Crab Wontons with imitation crab didn't really do it for me. Though there were definitely some ups to the meal and the alcohol list, I was not convinced that two huge slabs of deep fried Tilapia could be considered lightly anything let alone fried as they had claimed. If I wanted that dish I would have gotten take out from Long John Silver and thrown on some sauce from Trader Joes... I will say the flavors were good though.
